As an elementary school teacher, I believe that I am there to help my students learn and grow. I will ensure that my classroom will be a supportive, save and engaging environment for all my students. Every student in the world is unique and has the full potential to succeed in anything they set their minds to, and I am sure my students will leave my class feeling successful. To do this, I will create a collaborative learning environment. I will encourage my students to share ideas, work together, and support one another in school. In addition to giving the students opportunities to collaborate I will collaborate with my students’ families. Working together creates a positive learning environment where students will feel connected and supported. As an elementary teacher I will also be sure to make all my lesson plans based on the NYS Nest Generation Standards which gives great lesson plan ideas that are based on collaboration in the classroom Collaboration also helps students develop social and emotional skills that will help them for the rest of their lives.
Keeping an open line of communication with families will allow them to feel comfortable with me and have the ability to reach out to me with any concerns or ideas regarding their students or our classroom. By working together, we can create the best possible relationship and in turn my students will have comfort in the fact that their teacher has a great relationship with their families. I will make the classroom environment engaging, challenging, and inclusive. I will also make sure to incorporate hands on activities in every lesson to keep my students interested in the topic. Hands on activities emphasizes the importance of providing students with opportunities to engage with mathematical concepts in a concrete, tangible way. This approach to teaching mathematics is grounded in the belief that students learn best when they can connect abstract concepts to real life experiences. I will be flexible and use adaptable approaches by using different techniques and strategies to meet all my students’ individual needs. By providing multiple entry points and opportunities for differentiation, teachers can help ensure that all students have the chance to engage with math in a meaningful way.
Teachers are extremely versatile and have so much to provide to their students while teaching mathematics. As an elementary school teacher with a background in math my classroom will incorporate hands on activities, student centered stations, and differentiated instruction. As an outsider looking in my classroom will be a room filled with collaborative learning, group work, real world problems in addition to using technology and educational manipulatives. By incorporating all these elements into the everyday routine in my classroom I am confident that my students will succeed!
